Monday, August 17, 2009 The Bendigo Club, Victoria, held their August dinner following their AGM on the 11th in the in the upstairs private Guards Room at the Wine Bank on View. The menu and be The menu comprised: Appetizer - Coffin Bay Oyster with wasabi granita & tomato jelly accompanied with a shot glass of hot, intense potato & parsley soup, scented with lime rind. This was complimented by a Pongratz Pinot Noir / First Entrée - Red throat Emperor Fish, dusted in African spices served with red pepper coulis and Lebanese Cress. The colours, flavours and presentation were sensational. The accompanying wine was a 2006 Castro Martin Albarino which stumped most wine experts. Second Entree - Japanese lacquered Muscovy duck with Nabiyaki Miso Broth & Green Tea noodles. This delicious, strongly flavored dish, was perfectly balanced with a local 2004 Mandurang Valley Pinot Noir. Main Course - Oven, double, roasted 30 day aged, fillet of beef served with Bordelaise s Dessert - Essentially this was a cheese and biscuit dish. The difference being that the cheese was a French triple cream Brie (melting before it reached the mouth), with green apple slices, bread, and pecan nuts.
